Radical

I mean... WOW. Have you ever heard such passion in someone's voice. genuine passion.

I am sure many of you have heard about David Platt's book, Radical. If you haven't, now you have. David Platt is the pastor of Brook Hills church in Birmingham, Al. He and his church have been going on an incredible journey since this past January called "The Radical Experiment." Basically, they have broken down the American Dream and re-focused their lives based on God's intentions for the Christian life. American's have built church and Christianity to be comfortable for us and Jesus never called us to comfort, but rather, a radical faith and in turn a radical church. A faith and church driven by the Holy Spirit and dependent, not on entertainment, comfort, AC and the coolest graphics but simply on the presence of God. A faith that gets us moving. In Radical, Platt simply breaks down the gospel. He doesn't tell you anything you don't know but rather strips you of everything you do know aka what America has made us believe to be "necessary" in Christianity.

I just started the book on Sunday and it is quickly rocking my faith. I encourage you to pick up a copy and read it. Not only will it challenge you to simplify your life but it will bring you back to the purpose we were all called, living for HIM, dying to HIM and literally giving "it" all up for him.

besides the book, David Platt is one of the most annointed pastors I have ever shared a room with. He gets the gospel. He gets it's simplicity, it's purpose, and it's meaning in his life. He is not ashamed nor afraid to follow Christ. Platt hides behind the cross and allows Christ to reign in his life. If you need a good sermon, listen to one of his.
