Christmas began with a trip out west with Rob's family. We flew to Park City, Utah for a week of skiing. Now I had only been skiing once, so I was a bit nervous about the cold, slopes, etc. Here is the beautiful Utah mountains as we flew into Salt Lake.
We spent the first day in Salt Lake waiting for Rob's dad to fly in. We enjoyed the Salt Lake Public Library and a game of scrabble at the wifi-less coffee shop. Rob just loved that :)
Our first day on the slopes was beautiful! The sun was shining and skies were blue. I was a little nervous about skiing again, but after getting through the first couple of bunny slopes, I had my knee bend/lean-side to side moves back in action and was ready for a day of skiing!!!
We had a great first day except for one semi-major accident. Rob's sweet dad had one bad fall on day one. Luckily we were all skiing together and after we got the snow-patrol and a backboard, snowmobile ride, ambulance to Park City Hospital and another to the Trauma Center in Salt Lake, we learned that Mr. Silverii had suffered 4-5 broken ribs and a collapsed lung. We were pretty scared throughout the whole process. And needless to say- he was done skiing for the week. We spent the first couple of days between Salt Lake and Park City checking on him. Surprisingly, after 15 years of skiing, the Silverii's have never had a single accident. They are one lucky family for this to be the first one. Mr. Silverii is ok, just in a lot of pain. It made for an eventful first few days!

The next day of skiing: More blue Skies!! Look at those Clouds!
Spending the week before Christmas in Park City with Rob's family was wonderful. I realized how much I love skiing, his family and even the cold. We had the most relaxing time together. Thankfully, we made it with only one injury, although i wish we'd had none. So thankful for time together out west!
